What our travellers say

An enjoyable varied route. An excellent introduction to the region.

Dr Langtry

A pleasant holiday cycling in the mountains behind valencia and along the Orange Blossom coast with its magnificent beaches and nature spots. Holiday slightly tarnished by the very heavy bicycle i was given was unsuitable for the steep mountain climbs. The others had e-bikes and were fine. The mountain sections are pretty strenuous especially in the spanish heat and the heavy bike. So i would not recommend this holiday to the casual cycler unless they are quite fit or take e-bikes. Also the mountain sections are mainly on roads, which although not busy, you never felt like you were getting off the beaten track. Hotel accommodation was all very good apart from the hotel Xauen in Montanejos which was quite basic and had poor breakfast compared to the other hotels. Eating out was a pleasure with both food and wine very cheap compared to UK. We would have welcomed a few recommendations from Headwater on where to eat, as some restaurants were a lot better than others for a similar price.

Mr Laux

Pleasant cycling on quiet roads through impressive mountain scenery

Ms Black

Thoroughly enjoyable cycling holiday! The phone app was superb – an excellent addition. By far and away the best days were on cycle tracks / Via Verdes away from the traffic / roads. Some of the towns along the way were simply stunning and we loved the fact that they were mostly off the tourist trail. Hotel Xauen was disappointing and I haven’t completed the review for Hotel Sancho III as we didn’t stay there! All in all, it was a great trip which I would be very happy to replicate in the future.

Ms Eversfield

Super trip around the Valencian coast, city and mountains with fabulous scenery, food and Spanish hospitality. Loved the diversity of this adventure and the whole experience more than lived up to our expectations. Would go back to Valencia for sure
Thanks Headwater

COLLINS

We had a great time..such a brilliant way of seeing new places. We just felt this time the bikes let us down.? Hadnt been serviced of late.Though no punctures….felt they were better suited for city travel only.

Anna Greenwood

Start in Valencia was lovely. Cycling was tougher than expected due to heavy bikes but mountain and coastal scenery was varied and beautiful.

Roland Philibert

The trip was very varied and had beautiful scenery. E-bikes made a big difference and were really good. Jesus was very responsive. The hotels were good on the whole and the staff helpful. Sometimes it was a challenge to find a restaurant without a recommendation but there was always a choice of places to eat within walking distance. We have been on many Headwater bike trips and we are now complete converts to E bikes! It allows us to do more of the more challenging routes and we are not exhausted at the end of the day!

Mr Allan

Andre Palmer, who was the Headwater agent we dealt with, was helpful from the outset, understood our requirements for the holiday and adjusted the itinerary accordingly.

The local agent in Valencia, who supplied the bikes, was excellent. E-bikes were good quality and well maintained.

Ms Barnwell

Overall, this was very well organized. The cycling route was beyond our expectations with amazing vistas and very open and safe roads and paths. The transportation of our luggage was seamless and the individuals assisting us were very kind and helpful.
